Three frail elders,
Each carefully triangulated…
On two legs and a cane…
Stood unsteady,
In a circle of chat.
Then one’s cane fell.
In panicked silence
Each looked at the others,
What now, What now?
For none could bend and pick it up.
But moments later a young onlooker
Restored the cane
To a grateful hand…
And the chatting resumed.
