You Is…But I Thought You Wasn’t

A radio listener,
Listening casually,
Became attentive,
On hearing mention
Of a person he thought long gone.
He, telepathic, asked his pardon
For ghosting him prematurely,
And fawningly said,
Trying to make amends,
As if face-to-face,
I love your work,
And I’m certainly pleased,
You’re still with us.
Further he prayed his misinformation
Didn’t put a humbug on the poor man
And hasten any confrontation
With the Grim Reaper.
