MAN, YOU AIN’T PREGNANT

Claiming partnership in most endeavors
Won’t end in marital rift or split…
Annoyance, perhaps…
For the wife who does most
Of the shopping, the cooking and making the bed.
But foolhardy’s a man, who tells the world,
We’re having a baby.
As if he had more than a minor part…
And shares in the nausea,
The bloating, the swelling, the cramps,
And, endlessly, the need to pee.
In truth, like a king, he sails effortlessly
On the toil of the oarsman beneath.
