No Talking Now in the Time of Text

On Facebook now are lives recounted,
All things of great ordinariness,
With pictures sent to add details
To texted description…
A picture of dinner
At a restaurant
To send to friends,
Or a picture of a picture post card,
On our travels,
Sent in an instant,
A swoosh and it’s there,
Thumb-written, no stamp,
Better, I suppose, than
Buying and writing and stamping and dropping it
Into the maw of a foreign post box
Never again to reappear.
